Human Cerebral Cortex Organization Estimated by Functional PET-FDG Metabolic Connectivity

Abstract

Poster #1496, presented at the 2024 OHBM Annual Meeting. Using a resting-state simultaneous fPET-fMRI dataset, we characterized the detailed cortical organization of fPET-derived metabolic connectivity (MC) and how it differs from fMRI-derived network structure. MC showed robust spatial features deviating from those of functional connectivity, was dominated by low-frequency components, and was characterized by prominent fronto-parietal and inferior temporal-occipital components. We also examined mechanisms, such as imperfect baseline removal and shared scanning experience across subjects, that may give rise to apparent MC.
